Functional medicine asks an important question: not simply what condition do you have?, but why has it developed?
The Sona Method draws on functional and integrative medicine, but goes further.
Many patients arrive having already investigated individual root causes. They have changed their diets, taken supplements, worked on their gut, balanced hormones, or undergone extensive testing. Yet they are still unwell.
Conditions seen include chronic fatigue, IBS and digestive problems, autoimmune disease, skin conditions, anxiety and low mood, weight, sleep, and other complex multi-system presentations.
The problem is often not one missing piece.
It is the way multiple systems are interacting.
A Whole-Person Approach
Digestion influences immune function. Hormones affect mood, sleep, and metabolism. Chronic inflammation can affect the brain, skin, joints, and energy simultaneously. Stress physiology can alter almost every system in the body.
The Sona Method looks for the mechanisms connecting these apparently separate problems.
Rather than applying a standard functional medicine protocol, Sona considers your history, symptoms, previous investigations, treatments, physiology, biochemistry, neurology, behaviour, and lifestyle together.
What is preventing this particular body from recovering?
Investigation with a Purpose
Where investigation is needed, tests are selected to answer specific clinical questions arising from your assessment.
This may involve examining areas such as digestive function, nutritional status, metabolic health, inflammation, hormones, immune function, or other physiological systems relevant to your presentation.
The aim is not to accumulate abnormal results.
It is to understand what matters.
A Strategy Built Around You
Instead of receiving a long list of things to change at once, you receive a structured, personalised strategy designed around your biology, history, and priorities.
For some people, that means addressing digestion first. For others, inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, nutritional deficiencies, sleep, stress physiology, or another factor may be more important.
There is no standard Sona Method protocol. Because there is no standard patient.
