The Sona Method

The Science of Getting Better.

Autoimmune Disease
Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis & Hashimoto's.

When controlling the immune system isn't the whole answer.

An autoimmune diagnosis explains what the immune system is doing.

It does not always explain why.

Rheumatoid arthritis, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, lupus, inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis, and other autoimmune conditions can look very different. But they share something fundamental: the immune system has lost part of its ability to distinguish appropriately between threat and self.

For some patients, controlling that immune response is enough.

For others, symptoms persist despite appropriate treatment, additional autoimmune conditions appear, or they simply never feel well again.

That is where The Sona Method begins.

LOOKING BEYOND AUTOIMMUNITY

Autoimmune illness rarely exists in isolation.

A patient may also have digestive symptoms. Fatigue. Brain fog. Food intolerances. Hormonal changes. Skin problems. Joint pain. Sleep disturbance.

Viewed separately, these can look like a growing collection of diagnoses.

Viewed together, they may reveal a pattern.

The Sona Method assesses the systems influencing immune regulation and asks which mechanisms may be maintaining inflammation or interfering with recovery in your particular case.

The question is not simply what is the immune system doing, but what may be influencing it.

WHAT MIGHT BE INVESTIGATED?

There is no universal autoimmune protocol.

Depending on your history and presentation, assessment may consider factors involving digestive and microbiome health, nutritional status, metabolic function, hormonal influences, previous infections, sleep, stress physiology, environmental exposures, and other relevant clinical factors.

Not every factor matters in every person.

The work is identifying the ones that matter in you.

WORKING ALONGSIDE CONVENTIONAL CARE

Treatment and investigation are not the same thing.

The Sona Method does not replace appropriate medical or specialist treatment for autoimmune disease.

It addresses a different question.

While conventional treatment may be necessary to control disease activity and protect tissues and organs, an integrative assessment can examine the wider physiological picture in which that disease developed and persists.

The objective is not to fight the immune system. It is to understand it.

Autoimmune Support on Harley Street, London

For complex autoimmune presentations.

Sona works with adults and children with chronic and complex health problems from her practice on Harley Street in London, as well as with patients internationally.

The Sona Method may be particularly appropriate when autoimmune symptoms remain difficult to manage, several body systems appear to be involved, or you have already sought medical care but still feel that important parts of the picture have not been connected.

Conditions seen include Hashimoto's thyroiditis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis, and other autoimmune and inflammatory presentations. Where symptoms extend beyond the diagnosed condition, the wider picture may also be explored through the principles of functional medicine.

Your diagnosis matters. But it may not be the end of the investigation.
