Eczema. Psoriasis. Acne. Rosacea. Hives. Unexplained itching or recurrent rashes.
Skin conditions are particularly frustrating because they are impossible to ignore.
Creams, medications, skincare routines, and dietary changes can all have an important role. But when a skin problem repeatedly returns, there may be value in asking a wider question:
What is happening in the body that the skin is expressing?
MORE THAN SKIN DEEP
The skin is an organ.
It interacts with the immune system, hormones, nervous system, metabolism, nutrition, and the external environment.
That means persistent skin symptoms sometimes need to be understood within a much larger physiological picture.
A flare may coincide with digestive problems. Hormonal changes may alter acne. Immune dysregulation may contribute to inflammatory skin disease. Stress physiology may aggravate an existing condition.
None of this means every skin problem has a hidden internal cause.
It means the context matters.
ECZEMA & PSORIASIS
Eczema and psoriasis have formed a significant part of Sona's clinical work over the years.
Both can be persistent, recurrent, and deeply disruptive to everyday life. They can also behave very differently from one person to another.
In some patients, the skin is only one part of the clinical picture. Digestive symptoms, immune dysfunction, allergies or sensitivities, nutritional factors, stress physiology, hormonal changes, or other inflammatory symptoms may coexist.
Sona's experience with eczema and psoriasis has reinforced an important principle of The Sona Method: the diagnosis may be shared by many people, but the factors influencing it can be highly individual.
This is why the work does not begin with a standard eczema or psoriasis protocol. It begins with the person who has it.
The same diagnosis does not necessarily mean the same underlying pattern.
FINDING YOUR PATTERN
The Sona Method looks at the history of your condition, previous treatments, diet, digestive health, hormonal history, immune function, nutritional status, medications, lifestyle, and other symptoms.
Patterns matter.
What happened before the condition began? What makes it better? What makes it worse? Did anything else change at the same time? What has helped before, even temporarily?
These clues can be more informative when viewed together than when the skin is treated as an isolated problem.
The aim is to understand your pattern, not impose somebody else's.
WORKING FROM THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE
The Sona Method does not replace appropriate dermatological or medical care.
Topical treatments and medications may be important for controlling inflammation, protecting the skin barrier, managing symptoms, and reducing the risk of complications.
The Sona Method asks an additional question: are there wider physiological factors that may be influencing why the condition persists or repeatedly returns?
The two approaches do not need to compete.
Sometimes treating the skin and understanding the person need to happen together.
SKIN HEALTH ON HARLEY STREET, LONDON
Sona works with adults and children with chronic and complex health problems from her practice on Harley Street in London, as well as with patients internationally.
The Sona Method may be particularly appropriate when a skin condition repeatedly returns, remains difficult to manage, appears alongside symptoms elsewhere in the body, or has not responded as expected to previous approaches.
Presentations may include eczema, psoriasis, acne, rosacea, hives, recurrent rashes, itching, and other persistent inflammatory skin problems.
Where skin symptoms form part of a wider pattern, assessment may also involve autoimmune health, digestion, and the principles of functional medicine.
Sometimes the skin is the problem. Sometimes it is where the problem becomes visible.
A closer look
When the cream works, but the eczema keeps coming back.
When the skin improves, but the inflammation keeps returning.
When the spots clear, but the acne keeps coming back.
